The highly anticipated Mass Effect Legendary Edition is now available on multiple platforms, including PC. This collection brings together the beloved sci-fi series developed by Bioware and EA, which holds a significant place in gaming history. The remastered edition enhances each game with updated features, textures, lighting, and more, providing a modern look and feel. However, despite the remaster, there are a few missing features that players would have appreciated. For example, the Field of View (FOV) cannot be adjusted and is locked at 75°. Fortunately, there is a handy mod available to address this issue. Like the original games, modding is quite popular among Mass Effect players. Mods offer quality of life improvements, enhanced textures, and the ability to customize character models, greatly enhancing the role-playing experience, especially for multiple playthroughs. To adjust the FOV in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, you’ll need to use a mod. A well-known modder in the Mass Effect community, JadeBarker, has created a mod specifically for this purpose (currently available for Mass Effect 1, with updates planned for the sequels). Here’s how you can install the mod: 1. Visit the NexusMods link provided (sign-up required to download the mod). 2. Access the FILES tab on the page and download the mod file that matches your desired FOV (80, 90, or 100 degrees). 3. This will download a zip file containing a Coalesced.bin file. Extract the zip file using Winrar or 7zip for later use. 4. Locate the installation folder for Mass Effect Legendary Edition. If you are using Steam, you can follow these steps to open the file directory: right-click on Mass Effect Legendary Edition in your library, select Manage, and then click Browse local files. 5. Within the installation folder, navigate to the following path: Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME1\BioGame\CookedPCConsole. 6. Before proceeding, it’s advisable to create a backup of the existing Coalesced.bin file for safety. 7. Replace the original Coalesced.bin file with the one you downloaded earlier. 8. Launch Mass Effect Legendary Edition and start Mass Effect 1. 9. Press F10, and you will be able to adjust the FOV according to your preference. The modder has included comparison screenshots displaying the different FOV settings (80, 90, and 100 degrees) for reference. The mod has also been updated for Mass Effect 2 and 3, and the installation process remains the same as for Mass Effect 1. If you’re interested in adjusting the FOV for other games like Call of the Sea, we have additional FOV guides available. Although it’s surprising that this comprehensive remaster doesn’t provide FOV adjustment sliders, the modding community has come to the rescue and continues to improve upon these limitations. We hope this guide has been helpful. If you have any questions, please let us know in the comments section below.
