Not many people are aware that you can actually customize your character in Biomutant after starting the game. This guide will show you how to change your appearance in the game. Creating your character is always one of the most enjoyable aspects of any game, as you get to experiment with different combinations to achieve the perfect look. Typically, once you’ve confirmed your appearance, you cannot alter it within the game. However, Biomutant takes a unique approach, allowing players to make changes to their characters even after progressing in the game. The game incorporates the concept of “mutation” to enable character customization.
To change your appearance in Biomutant, there are two methods available. The first method involves altering your body type. This is similar to the Mutata Character screen when initially creating your character, but now your stats are locked, allowing you to choose any body type you desire. The second method involves changing your fur pattern and color. You can combine up to two different colors to create your desired look.
To change your body type, you need to visit the Biocontaminated/Bio Nucleus Areas scattered throughout the map. If you haven’t invested in Biohazard Resistance, make sure to obtain the Biohazard Suit before entering these areas to endure the hazardous conditions. One early location where you can change your appearance is Bio Nucleus 6D, located slightly north of Murkadorpus Outpost. Here, you’ll find a toxic pool where you can alter your body type. These pools of radioactive liquid are found in the underground sections of the Bio Nucleus Zones. Depending on the specific Biocontaminated Area you visit, you may require a level 2 upgraded Klawbar to access the underground area. Once you reach the underground area, proceed to the end, solving puzzles and defeating enemies along the way. Finally, you can fully customize your body type without affecting your attributes and characteristics. It is recommended to maximize the desired stats during character creation and make appearance changes in these areas.
To change your fur, you’ll need to interact with a character named Trim. To locate Trim, you may need to speak with an NPC who mentions him. Finding Trim’s exact location may vary from player to player. Once you find Trim, his first quest will involve purchasing new Clipperfingers. You can obtain these Clipperfingers from Juju, who will give you an additional task. Juju will only sell you the Clipperfingers if you retrieve a bobbin from a kite for him. Climbing a mountain will lead you to the bobbin. Return to Juju with the bobbin and purchase the Clipperfingers for 175 Green. This small investment grants you the ability to change your fur pattern. Simply bring the item back to Trim to complete the quest and start changing your fur pattern. If you wish to customize the fur color as well, you’ll need to complete another side quest for Trim. He will ask you to retrieve a can of dye, which can be found in the nearby area called Suburbia. Follow the quest marker to an underground bunker where you’ll encounter small enemies, a turret, and a Guerilla Miniboss. Defeat them and collect the Sputdye Can, then return it to Trim. At this point, you can change both your fur pattern and fur colors by spending some Green.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to alter your appearance in Biomutant. Remember that your breed, stats, and class cannot be changed once confirmed.
